Hey, I know this is 4 years late, but I just watched the full season of Heroes for the first time and I agree with everything you said, but had some other complaints as well.
Wasn't it that Peter couldn't die or be harmed, so if Claire shot him and killed him, he would lose the bomb power thing, and then he'd come back to life? And yeah, I thought Peter could fly as well, so why in the world did he need Nathan's help?
I was so pissed off about this episode. I'll still watch the second season though. I still like the characters

Hey Chris, thanks for your generous comments! I wish you would've commented before you bought Season 2 on blu-ray-- it stiiiiinks. If I were you, I'd read some episode recaps on TV.com or something and save yourself the 10-12 hours of frustration that are Season 2.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news like this, but I feel its my duty to warn you-- if you read any of the posts I wrote about Season 2, you'll see I found it to be one of the worst seasons of television I've ever had the misfortune to watch.

But if you must watch it, make sure you wrap it up in time for the Season 3 premiere on the 22nd!

My wife and I just finished a whirlwind week watching all episodes from season 1 on DVD. We went to bed last night so disappointed with the season 1 finale that we found ourselves making up excuses for what was a major letdown. I kept thinking of TS Eliot's final lines from "The Hollow Man",

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Jonah, I feel much better having come across this page today. You put into words a great deal of what I was thinking. A couple points:

- Why would Peter get into a fist fight with Sylar? If you can go nuclear you don't punch somebody, do you? There could have been so much more done here.
- Why did DL's son have to call his mom away just as she was just starting to bash Sylar... Geez...
- Why is Sylar so seemingly ineffective and 'unpowerful' in the end?
- Why did Hiro's big moment seem so unheroic?

And so on.

Maybe TS Eliot had it right. Whimper.

I know nothing at all about season 2. My wife and I already have it on blu ray, but I think we'll wait a couple weeks before we fire it up.

Great writing. Thanks for the page. Keep it up.

Okay, heheh, I know the second season is already over, but I wanted to comment on this.
First, the Candace thing was perverted, when she's unconcious in the first season she goes back to the form she usually used that season. But when she dies the next season she's all fat. Unless she unconciously reverted back to that or could use it as her 'default form' or something, that was just totally stupid.
And how DL got shot and then is totally fine is also impossible and totally stupid.
And Nathan's super hearing was a painful mistake.
And I didn't realize it when I watched it, but nobody seeing him crawl into the manhole was also completely wrong.
And that Peter for some reason just couldn't fly is also stupid. But they did have a good explanation for them both surviving.
But I don't agree that there were to many love/family/hope conversations on there.
And I also don't agree that it was a horrible season finale. In fact I thought it was great. Super great. I enjoyed it out the butt!!!!
Even though as you pointed out there were many many mistakes...

what good is regeneration if you don’t have super strength or something else to go along with it? people just use you as a human shield or something? this is why wolverine is such a sucky character in x-men. he just heals. whooptidoo.

--------------------------------------------------

I think it's one of the best abilities in the show. It doesn't matter what happens to you, you come back good as new. The episode where Claire had to tranquilize Ted shows just how good it is. There was barely anything left of her and a minute after coming out of there - hey presto. What's "sucky" about that?

Something else I'd like to point out though, seeing as I'm on the subject of healing. How did ‘future’ Peter get a huge scar on his face? Couldn’t it just have healed up? I can’t think of a single thing that could have caused such a perfectly straight scar right across his face that he couldn’t have healed in a matter of minutes. Meh.

In my opinion, I liked the idea that the comic book told the future, but they should have had Hiro more like catch Sylar (and us for that matter) by surprise.

---------------------------------------------------

I liked the idea too. I was holding my face in my two hands in shame when I saw the scene. He got Sylar’s attention, took a ten minute run up and stabbed him in the gut and in all this time, Sylar did nothing? He even saw the comic strip beforehand!! Unbelievable.

I finally just got around to watching the final episode online, and you have listed all of my grievances with this dreadful finale. Especially the part about Peter not being able to fly - that makes no sense.

--------------------------------------

I’ve seen this posted here a couple of times. I actually can make sense of it. Peter was focusing all of his effort on containing himself from exploding. He couldn’t fly and hold it in at the same time.

I imagined the fight between Peter and Sylar to be around at least 5 minutes longer. I wanted to see Peter use all those powers he friggen spent all that time learning damn it! It was like all that training was in vain.

One more thing, I really wanted to see Claude (Invisible Man) one last time. I really liked the character and considering he was in Peter's vision of blowing up, he really should have been there. Personally I think we deserved a better fight cause in my head I'm imagining it alot more like that fight 5 years in the future if you recall.
