Hey Jonah,

I am plugging your blog on the next episode (Episode #003) and having my episode select a post or two he wants to discuss. I don't know how you could possibly have the time to review all these shows.

I think you've got your timelines crossed, my friend. All the scenes from the finale were either the present (island) or future (off the island). Jack's father is not alive during any part of this episode. The plane scene from this episode was in the future when Jack's father was already dead.

He had a traumatic experience on the island and is hopped up on drugs. The last time he worked at a hospital, his father was still alive. I think he's so used to that, that once he's back in the hospital in this episode, he forgets that his father is in fact not there (because he's dead). It would be an easy mistake for someone in his fragile state of mind to make.

In the coffin? I agree it's either Ben or someone we haven't met yet.

Hey geezer, I am sure Jack was lucid about his father, because the whole reason Jack was on the plane was to bring back the body of his dead father. He did state in the argument in the hospital corridor that ‘you have no idea what I’ve been through’, so I guess he can remember. Now I am going to have to watch season 1 again and see if it was actually Jack’s father on the slab.

Obviously the body in the coffin isn’t Jack’s father! He is alive and well and working in the Hospital upstairs – lol

Who is in the coffin? Can only be one of two people, John Locke or Ben. Kate seemed disgusted that Jack would think she’d go to the funeral, so got to be somebody she doesn’t like.

Hey man, did you see how much Oxycodone that bro was on? I'm sure his brain was completely fried and he simply misspoke.

And that dead guy was definitely not Jack's father. Why would Jack expect other people to go to his father's funeral? Why would Jack read about his father's death in the paper? He already knew he was dead!

But these discussions are what Lost is all about baby!

One important fact you are missing here. Jack is talking to a senior work colleague in the corridor and Jack says ‘you get my father down here. Get him down here right now and if I am drunker than he is, then you can fire me.’

Isn’t Jack's father dead? He was in a coffin wasn’t he? Who else is going to appear in the future who is dead on the island?

Earlier this season Desmond and Charlie have chance meeting in London during a flashback where Charlie is busking. Was this a flashback?

I LOVE this show!!

Thanks for the link & comment on my post. My one reply to yours is that the way I read it, Charlie sacrificed himself because he wanted to uphold Desmond's vision - according to Des, he needed to drown in order for Claire & Aaron to be rescued on a helicopter. If he'd saved himself, the future might be altered. Of course the irony is now the forthcoming rescue is being framed as a potential disaster, so perhaps Charlie's self-sacrifice will ultimately doom his loved ones to some worse fate like poor Jack.
