Hey, Jonah -- Great critique. And a great blog! Very impressive. Glad Avery send me your post. He did because he knows that Lindsey and I are actively developing content for the net that really has a chance to pop -- and the reason for that is -- unlike the Z&H misfire -- the creative force behind the project is 23. Your friend Lindsey, Class of '07', directed ten actors performing three three-minute vignettes. She wrote most of them too. It's a family affair. Stay tuned for details.

Great comments Lindsey and Berri! Linds-- didn't know it was a failed tv pilot first. Wouldn't that be their first clue that its a bad show...you know, because they didn't like it in the first place?!

And yes Berri, I would definitely lay the smack down on these annoying a-holes if I knew anyone like them.

Thanks!

I'm glad that you also hated the pilot as much as I did... but really what pisses me off about it (besides everything you already mentioned above) is that everyone is making such a big about the fact that it was "made for the internet".

Yes, technically it might be the first web series to ever be sold and then broadcast on primetime television, but this project didn't start as an internet series. It started as a failed pilot for... (drumroll) NBC. Basically Zwick/Herskovitz tried to initially make this as a network pilot... but they were turned down. And so then decided to launch it on the web on their own dime. Yes, this required some retooling and reshooting, but they basically took their content for the television and squished it into a webseries format. So, if we want to be specific about the whole thing, this is really the first web series to be sold and broadcast on primetime television that actually wanted to be on primetime television in the first place! My point is that quarterlife is getting a lot of hype for being an "internet series" when really it just wanted to be on television the whole time. And truthfully... I can't really blame anyone for wanting their content to end up on television, but in this digital age, I think we're on the precipuce of allowing the internet to be an endgame for new media - not just a stepping stone for getting back to television.
Haha... but maybe that's just me.
