An Explanation

Hi there.  Remember me?  I’m the guy who used to write about television and film before I went MIA the last month or so.  Yeah, sorry about that!  I didn’t mean to leave you all in the lurch like this, but things got pretty crazy around here.  I want to take a second to explain my sudden disappearance from the blogosphere and to apologize for doing so.

At the time of my last post, I was preparing for a concert I was directing, which took up all my time.  So at first, it looked like I would only be taking a week or so off from writing.  But then tv/film hit that terrible dry patch in mid-April when none of the shows had launched their post-strike episodes yet, not a single good film was opening at the box office, and I got bored to tears by John Adams.  So then, I was stuck with conundrum of nothing to write about…and then even as shows came back on, I was stuck in a whole not-writing funk.  It’s like a yoga class or something– you sign up for the class, you’re psyched, you’re going three days a week– then you go on vacation, you come back late and you miss a class, so then you miss the next class, and before you know it, you haven’t gone in a month.

Well, to quote George Costanza’s dad when he starts cooking again, I’m back baby, I’m back!  And with good timing too– we’ve got season finales galore on the horizon (a couple this past week!), and this summer is one big blockbuster after another, starting with last weekend’s 100 million dollar Iron Man (which was totally awesome, by the way– a terrific superhero movie that doesn’t feel like a superhero movie).  

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything to talk about today– since The Riches ended this week (damn you, strike!) the only shows I have left are all on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday–so I’ll have to make good on this resurgence in the next few days.  I’m sorry for disappearing and forcing you to turn to other blogs for your entertainment fix, but I assure you, that time is at an end.
